Learn strategies to help your child engage, communicate, and learn social communication while doing everyday activities at home such as taking a bath or playing games. It is a perfect way to enhance your child's progress, in conjunction with other therapies.

By learning in a small group with other parents, you get support and input from people who understand what you are going through. Not only do you walk away from the program armed with strategies that are proven to improve your child's social and language development, but you also gain a valuable support network of peers.

Kristen is our Director of Clinical Services and specializes in early language development as well as autism. She also happens to be the mother of three children herself, as well as a speech-language pathologist with tremendous experience. Kristen is Hanen-certified for this program and holds an Autism Specialist certification.

What is it?  More Than Words  is a 12-week parent-training program developed by the renowned Hanen Centre in Canada for parents of young children (under age five, but exceptions can be made for families with older children) with autism. This program is usually offered in a small group setting via Zoom (2-2.5 hours each session) allowing you to participate from the comfort of your own home but in our upcoming March 2025 program, these will be individualized programs. Registration is limited to  6-8 families. (The program is for the adults, not the children.)

How much is this program?   The initial pre-program consultation with Kristen would be billed at our hourly rate ($226). This program provides concrete strategies to help you help your child learn to develop social communication skills which leads to increased communication overall. Personalized individual hour sessions will then be held for $310 via Zoom and your child should be present for all sessions. The Hanen program will be offered again this fall 2025 and will be conducted with individual families instead of the group this particular cycle.
